Poem day challenge#12 String of Men

Running late she rushes past the
Butcher’s on Unthank on automatic pilot
Stops abruptly something weird has caught
Her eye pressing close to the chilled pane her
Heart misses a beat sweat seeping out of every pore

Recognition sinks in icy blast from the past the
String of Men displayed in the shop window on promo
She has bedded every single one night stands
The smirk on their lips taunt pork and apple winks

She turns
Leaves the string of men suspended on their hooks

     note to self
     arsenic running low
