into the light …

Chink of white glittery light peeping tom sunlight
veranda steps robin orange breast alights
swaying bird feeder black cat darts across lawn
chased by puss in white boots mischievous out
of the shadows into the light I have arrived at this
place of acceptance late used to being
shouted at screwed up you
touched me gently on the arm
i felt
love

Heal the wound hurt little girl unheard
unseen surprised by
love

Out of the shadows into the light I
have arrived at this place of acceptance
compassion I have bucketfuls
for myself I must learn the lesson
rinse out brainwashing to meet own
needs selfish gave all discarded
found myself empty lost

Out of the shadows into the light I
have arrived at this place of acceptance

About cho wan yau

Teacher by day poet/writer by night. Words have been my first love and will be my last. As a child I locked myself into the toilet devouring books which transported me to distant lands. Poetry shared penned from 2009-2010 in a titanic struggle to stay sane at Heartbreak Hotel. Please check it out on chowanyau@wordpress.com. Any comments or feedback welcome. Why not share your story with me, because we all have one, don't we?
